Dr. Shakya has been serving at Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center (NCHRC) since 2018, bringing with him extensive expertise in cardiology and critical care from his prior work at MCVTC, Teaching Hospital, and Vayodha Hospital. He is also affiliated with Sumeru City Hospital, Lalitpur Heart Clinic/Nepal Heart Foundation, and Wasa Pasa Polyclinic. With a strong interest in Preventive Cardiology, Dr. Shakya manages both cancer and non-cancer patients with conditions such as acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, cardiomyopathies, pulmonary embolisms, DVTs, and other therapy-related complications. He is actively involved in optimizing atherosclerotic risk factors like hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and dyslipidemia before chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery, ensuring patients are in the best possible health for treatment. In addition to conventional 2D echocardiography, he utilizes advanced strain imaging techniques to identify patients at high risk of chemotherapy-induced cardiomyopathy and implement preventive cardioprotective strategies. He has contributed significantly to academic research, with publications in reputed journals covering topics such as exercise-induced bundle branch block, coronary artery disease patterns, coronary angiography findings, hypertensive cardiac changes, and congenital heart disease in neonates. Dr. Shakya is also an active member of the Cardiac Society of Nepal (CSN), Nepal Medical Association (NMA), Society of Internal Medicine of Nepal (SIMON), and the Asian Cardio-Oncology Society (ACOS).
