Dr. Basanta Maharjan (MBBS, MS) is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon (NMC No. 11528) specializing in Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery and Musculoskeletal Oncosurgery. He completed his MBBS at Kathmandu Medical College and Teaching Hospital (KMCTH), where he was honored as the Gold Medalist in Pathology, and went on to pursue his MS in Orthopedics from the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS). To further strengthen his expertise, he completed a Fellowship in Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery at the National University Hospital, Singapore, where he received advanced training in complex microsurgical and reconstructive procedures. Dr. Maharjan has extensive clinical and academic experience. He began his career as a Medical Officer at Barhabise Primary Health Centre, Sindhupalchok (2012–2014), later worked as an Orthopedic Surgeon in the Musculoskeletal Oncology Unit at Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (2018–2019), and subsequently trained as a Clinical Fellow in Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery at the National University Hospital, Singapore (2019–2020). Since 2017, he has also been serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Orthopedics at KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital, contributing to both education and surgical practice. He has authored research publications including “Comparative Study of Cast Immobilization of Wrist in Functional Position versus Conventional Palmar Flexion in Colles’ Fracture” (Journal of Chitwan Medical College, 2020) and “Complete Blood Count Parameters in Arthritis” (Nepal Medical College Journal, 2020). Dr. Maharjan is a lifetime member of the Nepal Medical Council, Nepal Medical Association, and Nepal Orthopedic Association, reflecting his active involvement in the professional medical community. Through his specialized expertise in orthopedic oncology and reconstructive microsurgery, Dr. Maharjan continues to provide advanced surgical care in Nepal while also nurturing the next generation of orthopedic professionals.
